Whole Foods Market

Curiosity got the better of me to go check out the grocery chain whole foods market. With a healthy stock price in an incredibly competitive 'Grocery Store' Industry, they do put a different spin on something as boring as grocery shopping. Its completely different from the usual grocery stores...Fresh fruits, without the 'wax shine' the regular grocery stores apply, huge sized colorful bell peppers, the usual brand names missing in the aisles, really fresh meat, (thick juicy steaks, all kinds of fresh seafood), clean floors, orderly shelves and jazz muzak(!). Surprising items were organic chips, cookies and salsa.
Of course they are priced at a premium, with the argument that the produce is insecticide free, genetically un-modified, resulting in tastier and only in season fruits and vegetables, just the way mother nature intended it to be. One thing that was not very convincing was, are organic foods that much healthier than the usual pesticide treated produce. Tastier than genetically modified ones ? Is the whole 'Organic produce' mantra a passing fad or is here to stay, time will tell...
